KIDS
ANGEL YOUTH CENTER. 160 E. Alameda St. Youth of all ages
are welcome to participate in the center's free activities, which
include billiards, ping-pong, arts and crafts, music lessons and
computer games. The center is open from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through
Friday, and 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, and until 10:30 p.m. Downtown

ARCHAEOLOGY FOR ALL. Old Pueblo Archaeology Center presents
Open1, a chance for kids ages 5 and up to learn about different
cultures by participating in the excavation of a make-believe
archaeological site. In addition to dig time, each session also
includes an indoor craft activity and instruction in artifact
cleaning and interpretation. Cost is $35 for four one-and-a-half
hour Saturday sessions, or $10 per individual session. Special

BACK TO SCHOOL. The children at Tucson Shalom House need
your help to get a great start on the new year! Tucson Shalom
House is a non-denominational, nonprofit organization that provides
housing, counseling, and support services to homeless women and
their children. The children are in need of school supplies and
school clothes. Donations of notebooks, pencils, pencil boxes,
tablets and filler paper, markers, glue sticks, etc., gift certificates
or cash donations for clothes and shoes can help make a homeless
child's transition back to school a more gentle one. Call 292-5667

BUILD-A-BIKE. BICAS Youth Underground Build-A-Bike program
is an eight-session program for adults and kids, offering extensive
hands-on training for basic bicycle mechanics. In addition to
learning new skills, you'll also be helping your community by
fixing up old bikes and getting them back on the streets. Students
are required to complete a 25-hour apprenticeship and final exam
to earn their first bicycle. Classes are from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays,
and from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Class tuition is based on a sliding-scale.

THEATRE FUN. Shoe Box Theatre. 40 E. Pennington. Stages,
the theatre education division of the nonprofit Quintessential
Productions, announces fall theatre classes with Michelle Fincher.
First Stage, for children ages 4 and 5, offers a choice of one
of two sessions: 10 to 11 a.m. October 6 through November 10;
or 3 to 4 p.m. October 2 through November 6. Second Stage classes,
for students grades 1 through 5, are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. October
4 through November 22. Third Stage, for students grades 6 through
8, are from 1:30 to 3 p.m. October 4 through November 22. Registration

Upcoming
GREENWINGS UNLIMITED. 2440 W. Sweetwater. Kids up to 14
years old are invited to the Ducks Unlimited Greenwing's Club
barbecue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 4. Activities
include: duck calling demonstrations, prizes, scavenger hunts,
waterfowl identification, construction of predator resistant duck
nests, and fishing at Columbus Park. Admission is a $5 voluntary
participation fee. Greenwings membership is $10. Registration

Parents' Corner
CHILDREN TO CHILDREN. 3922 N. Mountain Ave. Children to
Children is a grief support center for children and families who
have experienced the death of someone they love. They provide
support services in a caring environment, and currently have space

COLLEGE AID. Searching for college dollars for your child
just got a little easier. The Tucson-Pima Public Library is sponsoring
four workshops on finding and applying for college financial aid
packages. Join them at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, at the Wilmot
Library; 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4, at the Nanini Library; 6:30
p.m. Wednesday, October 8, at the Mission Library; or 7 p.m. Tuesday,
October 14, at the Main Library. All workshops are free. Call

PARENTS WITHOUT PARTNERS. Parents Without Partners, Inc.,
is an International, nonprofit organization dedicated to the entire
single parent family. They offer Saturday night dances, camp-outs,
picnics, skating, meetings, potlucks, games, house parties, movies,
hikes, volunteer and community service opportunities, and much
