GORGEOUS GOURDS. Tohono Chul Park. 7366 N. Paseo del Norte. The earliest domesticated plant, gourds have been used by indigenous peoples around the world for millennia to cook and serve their food, store their water, and make music for ceremonies. Kids of all ages are invited to decorated O'odham dipper gourds grown in the Park from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5. Participants can choose between finishing a bird feeder or designing a rattle. Cost is $5 for children 12 and under, $8 for children 13 and up. Children under 7 years of age will need an adult helper. Call 742-6455 for registration and information.

Listings GREENWINGS UNLIMITED. 2440 W. Sweetwater. Kids up to 14 years old are invited to the Ducks Unlimited Greenwing's Club barbecue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 4. Activities include: duck calling demonstrations, prizes, scavenger hunts, waterfowl identification, construction of predator resistant duck nests, fishing and a barbecue at Columbus Park. Admission is a $5 voluntary participation fee; Greenwings membership is $10. Registration will run from 9 to 10 a.m. Call Kevin O'Connell at 749-2529 for information.

COLLEGE AID. Searching for college dollars for your child just got a little easier. The Tucson-Pima Public Library is sponsoring the following four workshops on finding and applying for college financial aid packages: 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4, at the Nanini Library; 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, at the Mission Library; and at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, at the Main Library.
