SPORTSRUN WILD. Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. 2021 N. Kinney Road. Get ready to run, walk and have fun with the Museum's Raptor Free Flight Program on Sunday, September 28. Move along the scenic, hilly course along McCain Loop and Kinney Road, finishing at the Desert Museum. There will be mile markers, an aid station, and four water stations. There's a 10K race for the serious runner, beginning at 7 a.m., and a fun run desert-costume contest for all ages, beginning at 6:45 a.m. There will be a winner in each category: best plant, mineral, mammal, bird, insect, and reptile. Registration is $15, $10 for the fun run, and race day registration begins at 6 a.m. sharp. All participants receive a t-shirt and complimentary Desert Museum admission on race day. Get your friends, neighbors and co-workers together for America's Walk for Diabetes, Walktoberfest, on Sunday, October 5. Participants collect pledges from friends, families, and local businesses, then walk to help raise money to find a cure. Activities include exercise warm-ups, massages by the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts, lunch courtesy of Bruegger's Bagels, fresh fruit and water, prizes, and fun.
