23 and continuing through November 14: Secret Garden.

DAMESROCKET THEATRE. 125 E. Congress St. Damesrocket Theatre's
summer/fall play reading series, featuring new works by Tucson
and regional playwrights, continues at 7:30 p.m. Monday, October
26, with a reading of Tucson playwright Patrick Baliani's Monologue
of a Muted Man. The series continues the last Monday of each
month, through November. Each reading will be followed by a reception.

WEIRD SCIENCE THEATER WORKS. Red Barn Theater. 948 N. Main
Ave. Continuing through November 7: Dr. Von Chimera's Lemon-Fresh
Laboratory of Horrors, a creepy, educational comedy about
children escaping an insane scientist, a monster suffering an
identity crisis, and ravenous zombies. Performances are free and
are at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The Halloween night performance
will be followed by a Halloween Party; and the November 6 and

ARIZONA REPERTORY THEATRE. UA Laboratory Theatre, southeast

AUDITION NOTICE. Arizona Youth Theatre, 5671 E. Speedway,
is looking for performers ages 4 through adult to audition for
the October performance of Peter Rabbit. Auditions are
from 5 to 7 p.m. October 26 and 27, with rehearsal and performance

AUDITION NOTICE. Pima Community College's Advanced Cinematography
class needs two females and four males, ages 20 to 35, to act
in a 16mm film. The film, Moo Shu Pork, will be rehearsed

AUDITION NOTICE. The Third St. Ensemble Company, an off-shoot
of Third St. Kids, is looking for performers between the ages

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS. Damesrocket Theater Company seeks
full-length or one-act plays for its Monday night new play-reading
series. Six dates are available January through June, 1999. Original
works by local playwrights are especially desired. Original screenplays
will also be considered. Readings are assigned a director and
cast, and are given one or two rehearsals before public presentation.
Each reading will be followed by an informal, catered reception.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS. Desert Players Theater of Tucson
is holding a national, one-act play writing festival. Submissions
should be original one-acts dealing with the change of the millennium.
The top three submissions will be performed by Desert Players
Theater during the 1999 season. Include a cover letter about the
playwright, address and phone number. A self-addressed, stamped
envelope is required for the script's return. The first 100 scripts
received will be considered. Deadline for submissions is December

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS. Arizona Theatre Company, in association
with the Centro Cultural Mexicano de Phoenix, announces the fifth-annual
National Hispanic Play Writing Award. Competition is open to all
Hispanic playwrights currently residing in the United States,
its territories and Mexico. Unpublished, unproduced (at time of
submission), full-length or one-act plays not currently under
option are eligible. Scripts that have received workshops and/or
readings are also eligible. Scripts may be in English, Spanish,
or both. (Spanish language scripts should be accompanied by an
English translation.) Each script is read and evaluated by a culturally
diverse panel of experienced theatre artists. Award consists of
$1,000 and consideration for ATC's GENESIS: New Play Development
Program. Submit one securely bound script, including the play's
title and the author's name on the front page; a one-page cover
letter describing the play's developmental history and any other
relevant information about the play; and SASE for the script's
return. ATC is not responsible for the safe return of scripts.
