9 p.m. every Tuesday to read original works, practice writing,
critique work and discuss related issues. All forms, styles and

9:30 p.m. Tuesdays to share original works, or listen to the works

POETRY READING. Modern Languages Building auditorium, UA
campus. Geoffrey Becker, author of Dangerous Men, a collection
of short stories that won the Drue Heinz Literature Prize in 1995,
reads at 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 7. Becker has won numerous
awards for his fiction and has taught creative writing at the
University of Iowa and Emory University. Call 321-7760 for information.
WOMANSPEAK. Aroma Café. 346 N. Fourth Ave. WomanSpeak
poetry and prose readings gather from 3 to 5 p.m. on the last
Sunday of the month, and feature two readers interspersed with
open mic. Sign-up for open mic starts at 2:50 p.m. The hope is
that these readings will bring together women writers from many
different aspects of Tucson's cultural life, for an exchange of
inspiration and encouragement. Readings are free.
WRITERS' GROUP MEMBERS WANTED. A small, ongoing writers'
group with a relaxed format of checking-in, group writing exercises,
reading and critique, seeks new members. Join them Saturdays from
