The Summer lecture series Boom! Post-World War II Tucson
meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, July 8 through August 19. Seven
different topics will be discussed. Cost is $5 per lecture, $3
for students. Series tickets are $27 for AHS members, $30 for
non-members. Continuing through December: The Arizona Rough
Riders: The Cowboy Regiment. This exhibit looks at the pivotal
role the Rough Riders played in the Spanish-American War, and
the Riders' Arizona origin. Continuing through September: Un
Tesoro de Plata: Spanish Colonial Silverwork. Drawn from works
produced in the Viceroyalty of Peru, this exhibit explores the
history and development of the silversmith's art in Spanish America.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to
4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
ARIZONA-SONORA DESERT MUSEUM. 2021 N. Kinney Road. 883-2702.
Take a "Morning Bird Walk" at 7:30 a.m. Tuesdays and
Thursdays; observe desert creatures on the "Live Animal Interpretation
Tour" at
8:30 or 9:30 a.m. daily; or witness the seasonal "Saguaro
Flowering and Fruit Harvest Demonstration" at 10 a.m. daily.
Museum hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and until 10 p.m.
on Saturdays through October. Admission is $8.95, $1.75 for kids

ARIZONA STATE MUSEUM. UA campus, University Boulevard east
of Park Avenue. 621-6302. Ongoing: The Hohokam: Ancient Farmers
of the Desert, an exhibition on the irrigation systems, jewelry
and ceramics of the early Hohokam people. Paths of Life: American
Indians of the Southwest explores the origins, history and
life today of American Indians in Arizona and Northwest Mexico.
Mexican Masks: Faces of the Fiesta includes 300 colorful
Mexican folk masks. Ancient Images: Plants and Animals of the
Prehistoric Southwest features more than 100 examples of plants
and animals in prehistoric art. Museum hours are
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday, and admission is free.
FLANDRAU SCIENCE CENTER. UA campus.
621-STAR. Flandrau's new laser light show, Laser Latino,
features Latin music including Mariachi Vargas, Luis Miguel, Banda
Limón, Mana, Proyecto Uno, Julio Iglesias and Selena. The
Magic Sky introduces youngsters ages 4 to 7 to the wonders
of the night sky. Seeing the Invisible Universe explores
the non-visible spectrum of the universe, featuring information
about black holes, quasars and the Milky Way galaxy. Discovering
Lasers is an exciting demonstration of the properties of light,
using Flandrau's million-color laser projection system. Adventures
in the Solar System introduces younger audiences to the mysteries
of planets, asteroids and comets. Continuing programs include
Dinosaur Chronicles and Under Arizona Skies. Show
times vary. Exhibit and show admissions range from $2 to $6; telescope

FORT LOWELL MUSEUM. 2900 N. Craycroft Road. 885-3832. On
permanent display: The View From The Barracks, a photographic
exhibit allowing a look at the daily life of enlisted men in the
garrisons of the Southwest; and Surgeons, Scalpels and Malaria,
a photographic exhibit documenting army medicine during the Apache
Wars.
PIMA AIR & SPACE MUSEUM. 6000 E. Valencia Road. 574-9658.
The museum regularly displays 185 military, commercial, and civilian
aircraft, including a full-scale mock-up of Kitty Hawk, a presidential
plane used by news media and JFK during the 1960s, tours of the
mighty Titan missile silo, numerous photos, air and space uniforms
and memorabilia. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admittance
at 4 p.m. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors and
military and $4 for children ages 10 to 17. Free for aviation
buffs under 10.
TUCSON CHILDREN'S MUSEUM. 200 S. Sixth Ave. 792-9985. Celebrate
Independence Day by helping to make Tucson's largest ever ice
cream sundae from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Admission is reduced
to $3 per person for this event. The museum features hands-on
science and art activities from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday through
Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Summer camps are available for children ages 6 to 11, and meet
from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays through June. Cost is $12 per
session for individual programs, $10 per session for two or more,
and includes materials and a snack. Call 792-9985, ext. 105, to
register. New summer museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday
through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m.
Sunday. Admission is $3 for kids, $5 for adults and $4 for seniors.

740-9429. Displays depict contributions made by area veterans.
Hours are noon to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Volunteer docents
are needed.
