DOWNTOWN SATURDAY. Downtown Tucson comes alive with a firecracker
spectacular on Saturday,
July 4. Watch "A" Mountain fireworks from downtown,
to the sound of live music. Events this week feature the Mardi
Garcia Band in Arizona Alley; Stuck in a Groove on the Fifth Street
Stage; the Sam Steele Band at the Ronstadt Transit Center; and
Cozmic Debris at Winsett Park. Most festival events surround the
Ronstadt Transit Center from 7 to 10 p.m. For information on other
events, stop by the booth on Sixth Avenue and Congress Street
during DSN hours; or call the Arts District Partnership in advance
at 624-9977.
FIREWORKS FUN. Tucson Racquet and Fitness Club. 4001 N.
Country Club Road. The Tucson Racquet and Fitness Club is throwing
a party for July 4. Gates open at
4 p.m., with live entertainment by LeeAnne Savage from
7 to 11 p.m. Fireworks begin at dusk. A menu of barbeque items
will be on sale. Admission is $8, $3 for children under 12. Call

MOON STROLL. The Valley of the Moon. 2544 E. Allen Road,
north of Prince and east of Tucson Boulevard. Wander at your leisure
through the gardens, pools, caverns and pathways from 7 to 9 p.m.
on the first and third Wednesdays in June, July and August. Admission
is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted for the restoration
of this Arizona Historic Registry site. Call 323-1331 for information.
POOL OF FUN. The Tucson Parks and Recreation Department
sponsors several opportunities for free summer fun for families
and teens at municipal pools. Friday night teen pool parties meet
from 7:30 to 11 p.m. through August 7. Family Dive-In Movie Nights
are held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays through August 8. Children
under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Call 791-4873 for detailed
scheduling information.
VIDEO TENSIONS. The UA Media Arts Department presents "VideoQUEER"
as part of the VideoTENSIONS '98 summer series. Screening
is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2, in the UA Aerospace
and Mechanical Engineering Building Auditorium, Room 202, at Speedway
and Mountain Avenue. Call 621-7352 for more information about
