ACOUSTIC SHOWCASE. Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association presents an acoustic showcase from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, at the Southwest Center for Music, 2175 N. Sixth Ave. Featured performers include fingerpicker Ken Tucker and singer/songwriter Kathy Rote. Both are original founders of TKMA. Admission is $5, $2 for children. Tucson Parks and Recreation and the Southern Arizona Old Time Fiddlers Association present the Tucson Old Time Fiddle Contest at 10 a.m. Sunday, February 18, at Reid Park DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center, park entrance at Country Club Road and 22nd Street. Contestant registration begins at 9 a.m. Registration fee is $10 for fiddlers 12 years and older and $5 for "pee-wees" ages 11 and under. Special "trick and fancy" and twin fiddling competitions are offered for all ages. Spectator admission is free. GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA. Get in the groove with the Tucson Jazz Society dance party featuring the Glenn Miller Orchestra from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, February 18, in the TCC Ballroom, 260 S. The Rialto Theatre opens its doors once again for a weekend-long Wintertime Blues Festival February 15 through 17. The party kicks off Thursday with Gary Primich. Friday, February 16, heats up with Billy Boy Arnold, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, and Mike Morgan. Festival closes on Saturday, February 17, with Maria Muldaur, Angela Strehli and W.C. Clark. All shows benefit the Rialto Theater Renovation Project. Doors open at 7 for 8 p.m. show time. Tickets are $5 Thursday, $10 Friday and $10 Saturday; or $15 for all three nights. Call 292-1331 for information. AUDITION NOTICE. Arizona Opera is accepting applicants for chorus openings for their production of Der Ring des Nibelungen. Production will be performed at the Wagnerian Festival June 3 through 15 in Flagstaff. Males are especially needed. Rehearsals will meet in Tucson, Phoenix and Flagstaff. Participants must be able to travel to Flagstaff for rehearsals in May and performances in June. Singers are paid for rehearsal and performance time, per diem, transportation and hotel accommodation.
