AFRICAN DANCE. 121 E. Seventh St. Learn the movements of
dance from Guinea, Senegal, Nigeria and Afro-Brazilian and Cuban
regions with teacher Denise Hawthorne Bey. You'll also learn the
intricacies of the music, and the traditional songs and their
meanings. Classes meet at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost is $10 general,

AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT. Local choreographer Jon McNamara
needs 25 to 30 community members for an upcoming dance production,
Miasma. This avant-garde, multidisciplinary dance performance
requires dancers of all levels of experience (even no experience),
and people of all shapes and sizes are welcome. Auditions are

BALLROOM DANCING. Elks Lodge. 2404 E. River Road. The United
States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association get together once
again for their monthly, smoke-free dance at 2 p.m. Sunday, January
18. Admission to the dance is $5, which includes a one-hour lesson
and two hours of dancing. Dress is casual, but no shorts or sweats,

BALLROOM DANCING. Dance to live music from 8 to 11 p.m.
Wednesdays at Let's Dance Club, 6245 E. Bellevue. Singles and
couples of all skill levels are welcome. Experience a touch of
sophistication and romance with theme-dress occasions and a large,
decorated ballroom. Cost is $7, $5 for members, which includes
a free professional dance lesson from 7 to 8 p.m. Annual membership

DANCE AND DRUMS. The Barbea Williams Performing Company
announces classes in Pre-African and Pre-Ballet for children;
and African Brazilian/West African, African Cuban/ West African,
and West African drum lessons for teens and adults. Registration

DANCING CREATIVELY. Mary Ann Brehm will offer a 10-session
course on Creative Dance from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesdays, January
21 through March 25, at the Tucson Creative Dance Center, 3131
N. Cherry Ave. Classes build from individually sensing movement
to improvised group dancing. Dancers of all experience levels

Pollack teaches intermediate modern dance classes to help find
and strengthen your center, improve placement, and explore and

Follies offer weekly adult tap and musical comedy dance lessons
for active, energetic men and women. No experience necessary.

TUCSON DANCE FESTIVAL. Tucson Convention Center. 260 S.
Church Ave. Put on your dancing shoes for the Tucson Dance Festival
Thursday through Sunday, January 15 through 17. Pros from across
the nation will lead classes in square dancing, clogging, round
dancing and more for dancers of all levels. Spectator passes are

Club every Thursday evening. Lessons are from 7 to 7:45 p.m. for

MOVEMENT IN BISBEE. Cochise Dance Umbrella. 64 Erie St.,
Bisbee. The Cochise Dance Umbrella presents its second annual
Alternative Movement and Dance weekend Friday through Monday,
January 16 through 19, with individual movement classes in Modern
Dance, Improvisation, Skinner Releasing, Contact Improvisation
and Continuum-based movement. Participants will perform What's
New in Dance, a free, informal showing of works in progress,
