Continuing through November 7: a group exhibition highlighting new work by gallery artists, and representing a variety of functional and fine-art media for home and garden. A new room is devoted to photographs, prints, and an artists' library. A reception to celebrate the new season and gallery renovations gathers from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, September 19. ARIZONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY. 949 E. Second St. 628-5774. Continuing through January 15: Lines Drawn in Sand and Water: Postcards of the Mexican-American Border, a presentation of photographic and illustrative postcards spanning the 20th century. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to

ARIZONA-SONORA DESERT MUSEUM GALLERY. 2021 N. Kinney Road. Continuing through November 30: Under the Sun, aerial photographs of the Sonoran Desert by Adriel Heisey. An opening reception and slide presentation is offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 10. Heisey offers a multi-media slide presentation at 8 p.m. Saturdays through September 26 in the gallery. Continuing through October 4: Lauren Greenfield's Fast Forward: Growing Up in the Shadow of Hollywood; and selections from the permanent collection, Coming of Age. Continuing through November 8: How the West Was Done, a tribute to long-time gallery member Patricia Anderson, including a memorial display of her exquisite serigraphs. ETHERTON GALLERY. 135 S. Sixth Ave. 624-7370. Continuing through November 14: Egypt: Antiquities from Above, by Marilyn Bridges; The Grand Tour, by Dick Arentz; and Beyond the Fire, by Mayme Kratz. All three artists will be present for an informal Gallery Talk from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 12. Following the talk, Bridges and Arentz will sign copies of their books from 3 to 4 p.m.; and there's an artists' reception from 7 to 10 p.m. that evening. ART WALK. Free, docent-led Art Walk tours of downtown art galleries and public art spaces are offered every Thursday.
