Opening Friday, June 20, with an artists' reception from 6 to 9 p.m., and continuing through July 19: Salón de Célêbration, a mixed-media exhibit of Tucson artists refused from the TMA's official Arizona Biennial '97. The reception will be hosted by both Bero and Raw galleries, 41-43 S. Sixth Ave., and refreshments will be served. ARTS BRIGADE. Join the Brigade in celebrating the unveiling of their Share The Bounty Mural from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 21. There will be music, food, fun, and more for the entire family. Get involved with the Brigade: Help paint a mural on Fourth Avenue, work on a Quilt of Solidarity, participate in the street chalk mural and more with the Arts Brigade, an intergenerational collective of politically minded cultural workers. To get the scoop, join them any Tuesday at 7 p.m. for an orientation meeting. The Brigade believes that everyone should be afforded the rights and means to tell their stories. They are offering summer workshops that help to explore the many ways cultural work can help bring about positive individual and social transformation. Their upcoming workshop is titled: Printmaking, Embossing, and Calligraphy with Found Objects, beginning June 28. Call 629-8346 for information.
CALL TO VIDEO ARTISTS. VideoTENSIONS '97, under the theme "Landscaping for the Year 2000," is accepting submissions from Tucson-area videomakers for the VideoLOCAL showcase on July 17. Tucson artists who work in film, music video, video art, computer animation, documentary, narrative, etc., may submit finished works (completed after May, 1995). Submission deadline is July 3. CALL TO ARTISTS. Tohono Chul Park seeks artists working with colored pencils for a juried exhibition sponsored by the Arizona Colored Pencil Society, scheduled to run October 9 through November 30.
