BOTANICAL GARDENS. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. Regular garden attractions include the Birds and Gardening Tour at 9 a.m. Thursday mornings; and Exploring the Tucson Botanical Gardens highlights TBG history and plant trivia, and will familiarize visitors with native flora. A three-week Celebration of Gardens kicks off with a garden art opening on Saturday, March 21, and spring plant sale. The sale is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, with a TBG members pre-sale from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday. Grounds are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission for the sale is free. Regular admission to the gardens is $4, $3 for seniors, and free for members and children under age 12. COMPOST DEMONSTRATION. The Master Composters of the Tucson Organic Gardeners staff a compost demonstration site at the Tucson Botanical Gardens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday to answer your composting questions. Call the Compost Assistance Line at 670-9158 or 883-0377.

Listings GARDENING DEMONSTRATION. The Pima County Cooperative Extension offers free gardening workshops every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Extension Garden Center, 4210 N. Campbell Ave., and again at 1 p.m. at the Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. On March 25, learn the techniques of Hydroponics. Bring in sick plants for an end-of-workshop diagnosis and treatment session. Call 626-5161 for information.

NATIVE SEEDS OPEN HOUSE. 526 N. Fourth Ave. Native Seeds/SEARCH announces their open house from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 7. Come see what you'll need for your spring garden with lots to learn and choose from including: seeds, seedlings, foods, books, crafts and gardening questions answered by NS/S gardeners. PERMACULTURE BREAKFAST. The Permaculture Drylands Institute wants to teach you about sustainable living in drylands. They meet the second Tuesday of each month for a community breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Congress Grill, 100 E. Congress St. Call 744-9305 for information.
