GARDENING
BOTANICAL GARDENS. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N.
Alvernon Way. Regular garden attractions include the Birds
and Gardening Tour at 9 a.m. Thursday mornings; and Exploring
the Tucson Botanical Gardens highlights TBG history and plant
trivia, and will familiarize visitors with native flora. Grounds
are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular admission to
the gardens is $4, $3 for seniors, and free for members and children

CASA DEL AGUA. 4366 N. Stanley Place. The Casa del Agua
is a demonstration and education project operated by Arid Lands
Studies at the University of Arizona. It includes information
about indoor water conservation, xeriscape, rainwater harvesting,
and graywater systems. Free tours are offered on the hour from
noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, excluding holidays. Call 887-1185 to arrange
for special student and group presentations.
COMPOST DEMONSTRATION. The Master Composters of the Tucson
Organic Gardeners staff a compost demonstration site at the Tucson
Botanical Gardens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday to answer
your composting questions. Call the Compost Assistance Line at

DESERT GARDENING LECTURE. Della Fletcher from the University
of Arizona presents a lecture on desert gardening and irrigation
from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Bookman's, 1930 E. Grant

GARDENING DEMONSTRATION. The Pima County Cooperative Extension
offers free gardening workshops every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the
Extension Garden Center, 4210 N. Campbell Ave., and again at 1
p.m. at the Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. On March 18, learn
the techniques of Gardening to Attract Wildlife. Bring
in sick plants for an end-of-workshop diagnosis and treatment

PERMACULTURE BREAKFAST. The Permaculture Drylands Institute
wants to teach you about sustainable living in drylands. They
meet the second Tuesday of each month for a community breakfast
at 7 a.m. at the Congress Grill, 100 E. Congress St. Call 744-9305

TUCSON ORGANIC GARDNERS. The Tucson Organic Gardners present
a free lecture, Who Are the Bad Guys in the Garden: How to
Tell Pests From Friends, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17.
Lecturer Sheri Herrera De Frey, a representative from ARBICO,
will be bringing along some insect friends for demonstration.
