There will be something for everyone at the first annual Plant Sale and Garden Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2. Visit special exhibits including a Wildflower Booth, a Foods of the Desert table, and be sure to stop by one of the special visitor's tables manned by representatives from the Forgotten Pollinators Campaign, the Sonoran Arthropod Studies Institute, the Arizona Native Plant Society, and the University of Arizona's Water Resources Research Center. Throughout the weekend Park Grounds Curator Russ Buhrow and Horticulturist Bruce Evans will offer a series of mini-lectures for the seasoned gardener to the desert novice. There will be seeds of native crop varieties including corn, beans, and squash, as well as all the foods and books featured in Native Seeds/SEARCH's 1997 Seedlisting. There will also be a variety of seedlings and Native American arts and crafts available. Arrive early for a Spring Planting Workshop for beginning desert gardeners, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Sylvester House.
