Opening This Week

ARIZONA REPERTORY THEATRE. UA Fine Arts Complex, southeast corner of Speedway and Park Avenue. Opening February 28 and continuing on selected dates through March 10: Richard III, Shakespeare's passionate tale following the intrigues of Richard, Duke of Gloucester, as he murders and plots his way to the crown. Preview performances are $7, at 8 p.m. February 25 and 26. Regular performances continue at 8 p.m. through March 10, with 2 o'clock matinees March 4, 9 and 10. CATALINA PLAYERS. 2700 E. Speedway. 327-4296. Opening February 23 and continuing through March 2: The Good Doctor, a play by Neil Simon consisting of 10 vignettes representing both comedy and drama. AUDITION NOTICE. The Upstairs Theatre Company announces auditions for When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder? Bring prepared dramatic monologue (three to five minutes long) for readings from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 24, at the Tucson Center for the Performing Arts, 408 S. CALL FOR ENTRIES. Very Special Arts is accepting entries for the 1996 Young Playwrights Award. Students ages 12 to 18 years are invited to submit scripts incorporating some aspect of a disability. An awards ceremony will accompany the opening night of the winning plays at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
