FIESTA DE LOS VAQUEROS. The 71st annual Fiesta de los Vaqueros stirs up the dust February 21 through 25 at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, 4823 S. Sixth Ave. The Rodeo parade begins at 9 a.m. Thursday, February 22. Rodeo tickets are available at all Dillard's ticket outlets, neighborhood community centers and malls, Eastside City Hall, Centennial Hall, Davis Monthan AFB, Arizona Hatters and the Rodeo Grounds box office. SIP OF SONOMA. St. Gregory Prepatory School hosts a "Sip of Sonoma" wine tasting and auction at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, at the Doubletree Hotel, 455 S. Alvernon Way. Twenty-nine Sonoma Valley wine growers are participating in the tasting, which will be followed by a live and silent auction. Auction items include an Al-Marah Arabian horse, Caribbean cruise, all expense paid trip to the Late Show and a trip to the Adirondack Mountains. Proceeds benefit the school's scholarship fund. BODHISATTVA FUNDRAISER. The Bodhisattva Institute hosts its annual fundraiser dinner and auction beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, February 24, at the Westin La Paloma, 3800 E. Sunrise Drive. Silent auction items include 1996/97 UA Men's basketball tickets and Tibetan and Asian art. Cost is $65 per person, of which $29 is tax deductible. Proceeds help establish a temple and monastic center in Tucson. The Institute is a non-profit center for the practice and study of Buddhism. Call 325-2272 for information.

PEACE FAIR. Tucson's 14th annual Peace Fair meets from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, February 24, at the Reid Park Bandshell, located at Country Club Road and 22nd Street. This is Tucson's largest gathering of peace, justice and environmental action groups. Attractions include live music, refreshments, dancing, children's games and food. INDIAN ART FAIR. The Southwest Indian Art Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 24, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 25, at the Arizona State Museum, located on the UA campus at Park Avenue and University Boulevard. This free invitational show and sale features kachina dolls, sculpture, fetishes, basketry, and storytelling and lectures. Call 621-6302 for information.

WINE TASTING. Charles Buckley of the Kunde Estate Winery in Sonoma Valley, California, presents an evening of wine tasting and light hors d'oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, in the Metro Room at Presidio Grill, 3352 E. OPEN-AIR MARKET. Experience the charm of a European style open-air market from 2 p.m. to dusk Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, at Plaza Palomino at Swan and Fort Lowell roads. RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL. Take a voyage back to the days of knights and chivalry at the Arizona Renaissance Festival and Artisan Marketplace, continuing through March 24 at Gold Canyon Ranch west of Florence Junction. This 25-acre re-creation of a 16th century European open-air market features music, dance, comedy, food, drink, arts, crafts and jousting tournaments. Advance discount tickets are available at all Fry's grocery stores for $10.95, $3.95 for children. Children 5 and under are free. Admission is $11.95, $4.95 for children at the gate. Visitors to the Festival are encouraged to dress in costume. Take Hwy. 89 north to Florence Junction, and head west for seven miles on Hwy. 60/89 to the Festival gate.
