ENVIRONMENTWOMEN BUILD HOUSES. Women Build Houses, an organization teaching home building and maintenance designed specifically for women, offers classes throughout the spring. Classes provide hands-on experience with building skills, while promoting environmentally safe innovations. Classes include Tool Use and Safety, Straw Bale Houses and a plastering workshop with Barbara Rose. Cost is based on a sliding scale. Registration required. The following neighborhood drop-off centers are open 24 hours daily: Cholla High School, 2001 W. 22nd St.; Booth-Fickett Magnet School, 7240 E. Calle Arturo; and Morrow Education Center, 1010 E. 10th St. All city and county landfills also have recycling centers. Call 791-5000 for hours and locations.
