COZY QUILTING. Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park hosts
the third annual Quilt Show and Contest from Friday through Sunday,
January 9 through 11. This juried show, with a desert plant theme,
will feature handmade quilts from artisans throughout Arizona
and other states, and will include throws, wall hangings, clothing
and art pieces. Nearly 100 items will be on display in the Arboretum
Interpretive Center and Lecture Room. Located in Queen Creek Canyon,
90 minutes north of Tucson, at 37615 Highway 60. Tickets are $5.

DRUGS AND DISABILITY. The Outreach, Education and Awareness
Committe, sponsored by Pima Prevention Partnership, is holding
an information fair at the Tucson Mall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, January 10. "Drug Awareness and Disability, What
You Need to Know," will include nonprofit groups and agencies
offering resources, support and information for disabled people
who suffer from substance abuse. There will be guide-dog demonstrations
and a presentation by Tucson Police Officer Skip Woodward. Call

FOOD FAIR. Visit Plaza Palomino, on the corner of Fort
Lowell and Swan roads, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays for their
gourmet food fairs. There are more than 45 vendors with organic
veggies and fruits, breads, salmon, Arizona emu, fresh cut flowers

GREAT DECISIONS. The annual luncheon for Southern Arizona's
Great Decisions group will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January
13, at the Tucson Marriott Hotel, 880 E. Second St. This year's
speaker will be former mayor and UA political science professor
Dr. Tom Volgy, who will moderate two discussions: China and
U.S. Human Rights, and Cuba: What Now? Tickets are
$16.50 per person.
SIBLING REVELRY BRUNCH. The Invisible Theatre is holding
a fundraising brunch to honor "Sister Supporters," a
local civic group for women, at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, January
11, at the Doubletree Hotel, 445 S. Alvernon Way. Hostesses Molly
McKasson and Susan Claassen will introduce musical guests Lisa
Otey, Mary Baker and others. Tickets are $25. Call 882-9721 for

STARS ON ICE. Tucson Convention Center. 260 S. Church Ave.
Smucker's Tucson presents Discover Stars on Ice, featuring
12 Olympic and World Champion figure skaters, including Kristi
Yamaguchi and Katarina Witt. The event, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
January 13, will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tickets are
$38 to $50, available at the TCC Box Office and Dillard's outlets.

WALKING TOURS. The Arizona Historical Society presents
Walking Tours of Historic Tucson from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays
through March. Begining at the Sosa-Carillo-Fremont House Museum,
the tour takes you to more than 20 homes, sites and historic buildings.
