OUTDOORS HIGH STEPPIN'. The Forest Service Volunteers are offering free guided hikes in the Santa Catlina Mountains on Fridays through August. The museum is part botanical garden, part geology museum and part zoological park. Naturalistic settings house 1,386 plant species and 317 animal species. Live animal visits, botanical and raptor interpretations are given daily. During the month of June live animal interpretations are offered at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Guided tours depart daily at 8 and 8:30 a.m. Early morning birdwalks meet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saguaro flowering interpretive demonstrations are at 10 a.m. daily. Museum hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday through September. Visit the Nature Conservancy's Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Visitor Center and enjoy bird watching, guided tours and hikes. Regular preserve hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Art in the Park tours, docent-guided looks at gallery exhibits, are offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Out Of Town SEE THE TREES. Visit the Arboretum in Flagstaff between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, with guided tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekends through September. Pack a picnic lunch and cool off among the many garden displays; see endangered plants and animals; or just relax under a pine. Pick up something green at the Arboretum's 11th annual Plant Sale and Horticulture Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15. There are nearly 200 varieties of plants including hard-to-find hardy natives, perennials, trees, shrubs, herbs and vegetable starts. Admission is $3, free for those 18 and under.
