GARDENING
BOTANICAL GARDENS. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N.
Alvernon Way. Upcoming classes offer relaxing and educational
fun: TBG staff member Lynn Kaufman teaches you about planting
your garden and yard to attract birds from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday,
February 21. Cost is $8, $6 for members. Pre-registration is required

Grounds are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular admission
to the gardens is $4, $3 for seniors, and free for members and

CASA DEL AGUA. 4366 N. Stanley Place. The Casa del Agua
is a demonstration and education project operated by Arid Lands
Studies at the University of Arizona. Free tours are offered on
the hour from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, excluding holidays. Call
887-1185 to arrange for special student and group presentations.
COMPOST DEMONSTRATION. The Master Composters of the Tucson
Organic Gardeners staff a compost demonstration site at the Tucson
Botanical Gardens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday to answer
your composting questions. Call the Compost Assistance Line at

GARDENING DEMONSTRATION. The Pima County Cooperative Extension
offers free gardening workshops every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the
Extension Garden Center, 4210 N. Campbell Ave., and again at 1
p.m. at the Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. On February 25,
learn about Spring Fertilization. Bring in sick plants for an
end-of-workshop diagnosis and treatment session. Call 626-5161

VERY VIOLET. El Con Mall. 3601 E. Broadway. Join the Tucson
African Violet Society for their 41st annual Show and Sale Saturday
and Sunday, February 21 and 22. There will be plenty of informaiton
on growing African Violets in the desert, plus lots of beautiful
