GARDENING
SEED CONSERVATION. Arizona Historical Society, 949 E. Second
St. 622-5561. Native Seeds/SEARCH sponsors a panel discussion
entitled Seed Conservation: A 20-Year Retrospective, from
3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday, February 16, at the Arizona Historical
Society. Featured speakers include Kent Whealy, of Seed Savers
Exchange; Hope Shand, of RAFI; Mahina Drees, of Native Seeds/SEARCH;
and Twolde Egziabher. Gary Paul Nabhan moderates. Admission is

BOTANICAL GARDENS. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N.
Alvernon Way. Upcoming classes offer relaxing and educational
fun: TBG's Native Cooking class offers an introduction
to the versatility and unique qualities of many edible Native
American plants, and their preparation. Class meets from 1 to
4 p.m. Saturday, February 7. Cost is $30, $25 for TBG members.
Grounds are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular admission
to the gardens is $4, $3 for seniors, and free for members and

CASA DEL AGUA. 4366 N. Stanley Place. The Casa del Agua
is a demonstration and education project operated by Arid Lands
Studies at the University of Arizona. It includes information
about indoor water conservation, xeriscape, rainwater harvesting,
and graywater systems. Free tours are offered on the hour from
noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, excluding holidays. Call 887-1185 to arrange
for special student and group presentations.
GARDENING DEMONSTRATION. The Pima County Cooperative Extension
offers free gardening workshops every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the
Extension Garden Center, 4210 N. Campbell Ave., and again at 1
p.m. at the Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. On February 18,
learn how to shop for quality plants. Bring in sick plants for
an end-of-workshop diagnosis and treatment session. Call 626-5161

TUCSON ORGANIC GARDENERS. Heidelberg House. 4604 E. Pima
St. 883-0377. The Tucson Organic Gardeners present a free lecture,
Tomatoes in Tucson: Desert Love Apples, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday,
