GEM AND MINERAL SHOW. Tickets are on sale now for the Tucson Gem and Mineral show, February 8 through 11 at the TCC Exhibition Hall, 260 S. TUBAC FESTIVAL. The thirty-seventh annual Tubac Festival of the Arts is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 3 through 11, throughout the small arts community of Tubac. Music, performances, wandering mimes and more than 200 arts and crafts vendors will participate. Admission is free. Take I-19 south to Tubac, exit 34. Call (520) 398-9296 for information.

TRAIN SHOW. The Great American Train Show chugs into town from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 3 and 4 at the Pima County Fairgrounds, 11300 S. Houghton Road. There are operating model railroads and over 10,000 trains on display and for sale. Admission is $5, children under 12 free when accompanied by an adult.

WHOLE BEAD SHOW. The third annual Whole Bead Show happens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. February 1 through February 6, at the Windmill Inn, 4250 N. Campbell Ave (St. Phillip's Plaza). Seventy international bead makers, merchants and traders will be present. The show features booksignings by Robert Liu and Diane Fitzgerald, bead design workshops and Native American beaded clothes and jewelry.

MERGED REALITIES. The Central Arts Collective hosts Merged Realities in Concert, a totally integrated performance of art and science with music from David Lane, UA Choreographers and Dancers, and dialog/commentary by Martin Hewlett, Roger Feldman and Christopher Langton at 8 p.m. Friday, February 2, at Crowder Hall on the UA campus. DOWNTOWN SATURDAY. Experience art and culture with exciting street performances, live music and self-guided historic and art tours all day Saturday, February 3. The Gospel Music Workshop of America co-hosts Downtown Saturday in celebration of African American History Month, with performances at the Ronstadt Transit Center from 7 to 10 p.m. Djenaba Kouyate shares African storytelling, folklore and song, One Heartbeat Drum Ensemble performs in Arizona Alley and Stew Mortimer and friends give a jammin' drum party at Winsett Park on Fourth Avenue. Rancho Venado horse and wagon rides depart from the transit center throughout the evening. Pick up a program of events at the information booth at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Congress Street. Out Of Town

RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL. Take a voyage back to the days of knights and chivalry at the Arizona Renaissance Festival and Artisan Marketplace February 3 through March 24, at Gold Canyon Ranch located west of Florence Junction. Mingle with royalty and townsfolk at this 25-acre re-creation of a sixteenth century European marketfaire featuring music, dance, comedy, food and drink, arts and crafts and jousting tournaments. Advance discount tickets are available at all Fry's grocery stores for $10.95, $3.95 for children. Children under five are free. Admission is $11.95, $4.95 for children at the gate. Visitors to the Festival are encouraged to dress in costume. Take Hwy. 89 north to Florence Junction, and west seven miles on Hwy. 60/89 to the Festival gate. Call (520) 463-2700 for information.

WINTERFEST. The 10th annual Flagstaff Winterfest continues through February 7 throughout the Flagstaff area, with more than 55 events including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, dog sled races, Native American winter tales, a Snow Carnival and many musical performances.
