LITERATURE WOMEN IN AFRICAN LITERATURE. The UA Extended University is offering Women in African Literature and Cultures, a non-credit class examining the cultural, historical and political contexts of African women's writing, and compares African feminism to feminism in Western cultures. Class meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning January 24 and continuing through February 28, at the UA Maingate Center, 888 N. The Tucson Poetry Festival Committee hosts a bilingual poetry contest for Tucson area high school students. Poets must submit two copies each of three original poems, in Spanish or English. James T. Sinski, UA professor emeritus of microbiology, shares his hobby of collecting pop-up books with fellow bibliophiles in the annual pop-up storybook exhibition continuing through January at the UA Main Library, south side of the UA Mall near Cherry Avenue. The collection is located in three different areas of the library and covers topics from Disney's favorite villains to 15th century Italian architect Filippo Brunelleschi.
