AFRICAN HOLIDAY MARKET. Visit the Sixth Street Art Studios, at 44 W. Sixth St. through December 21, for a glance at unique gifts and more, with proceeds benefiting the Barbea Williams Performing Company. PARTY AT THE PLAZA. 2940 N. Swan Road. Enjoy the Plaza's Gourmet Food Fairs Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring organic produce, gourmet food and Southwest specialties to sample and purchase. ARIZONA AIDS QUILT. The One In Ten Repertory Theatre of Tucson hosts a series of workshops for the conception and creation of panels to be displayed during the production run of Remember My Name, by David Lemos. Panels gathered will be sent to the Names Project in San Francisco, where they'll be joined to the National Quilt after opening night. Call 293-5397 for information, or if you've lost a friend or loved one and would like to create a panel in their memory.

FOR THE CATS. Catitudes. 6378 E. Broadway. 792-9222. Join Catitudes in supporting the Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter at the Catitudes Gratitude Celebration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, November 23. Folks from Hermitage will be on hand with information about cats available for adoption, sponsoring a resident cat, volunteering at the shelter, and information on proper cat care. Take advantage of the purrfect timing and get a head start on your Christmas shopping; Catitudes will donate 10 percent of Saturday's sale to Hermitage.

WINGSPAN AUCTION. Wingspan, Tucson's Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Community Center, is conducting its annual silent auction through December 15. Up for grabs this year are weekend getaways, works by local artists, and much more. All are invited to stop by the center, 422 N. Fourth Ave., to view and bid. Funds raised from the auction benefit a variety of services including a 24-hour information line, support groups, a youth group, and free HIV testing. Call 571-8183 for information.

WORLD AIDS DAY. Volunteers are needed for this year's World AIDS Day commemoration on Sunday, December 1, to tie ribbons on the trees at Reid Park. Approximately 100 volunteers are needed to help tie the ribbons before the commemorative ceremony and press conference at 2 p.m. Groups and individuals are asked to call Jenny Porter at the Shanti Foundation at 622-7107 for registration and information.
