BORDER BASH. Border Beat, the Border Arts Journal
celebrates its first anniversary on Friday and Saturday, November
21 and 22. The celebration begins with Border Beat: The First
Year at 8 p.m. Friday, November 21, at the José Galvez
Gallery, 743 N. Fourth Ave. This evening of readings, art and
music with authors Demetria Martínez, Tom Miller, Brian
Laird, Patricia Preciado Martin, Elaine Romero, Susan de la Peña,
and Gayle Jandry. The celebration continues with The Bullfight,
an afternoon of ambiente taurinos at 2 p.m. Saturday, November
22, at the Temple of Music and Art Cabaret Theatre, 330 S. Scott
Ave. Join retired American matador Diego O'Bolger, taurine journalist
Dick Frontain and travel writer Ron Butler for a slide lecture,
live demonstration and more. The celebration concludes with Border
Ballads, an evening of music with Tom Russell, Andrew Hardin
and John Coinman, at 8 p.m. Saturday, in the Cabaret Theater.

CALL FOR ENTRIES. The Sonora Review seeks submissions for
its spring publication. Stories must be original and unpublished,
neither simultaneous submissions nor novel chapters. Entry fee
