GAY SYMPOSIUM. UA Center for English as a Second Language, North Campus Drive, one block east of Park Avenue. The University of Arizona Committee on Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Studies hosts its second annual symposium on Sex and Scholarship, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13. Leading scholars from around the country will talk about their LGB-related research, including: Jose Munoz, New York University, on "Rough Boy Trade: Queer Desire/Straight Identity in the Work of Larry Clark"; Vernon A. Rosario, University of Pennsylvania, on "Why's a Good She-Male So Hard to Find: The Blossoming of Transsensuality"; and Amy Robinson, Stanford University, on "Ethics and Performance: Identity Politics in the Academy." Professor Janet Jakobsen, of the University of Arizona's Women's Studies and Religious Studies departments, will serve as respondent. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided. WOMEN AND WELL-BEING. Learn more about what you need to do for yourself at the second annual Tucson Women's Issues Conference entitled A Gift to Myself: A Toolbox for Well-Being, from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Marshall Auditorium of Tucson Medical Center. The conference features three presenters, Lucy Jones Voisey, Ph.D, Gail Kershner Riggs, M.A., C.H.E.S., and Barbara Hurlbut, CISW, BCD, who will look at such issues as: women's life changes and inner spirituality, female aging and sexuality, and the importance of being an advocate for one's own well-being. The morning will end with demonstrations of Tai Chi and self-massage. Attendance is free, but donations can be made to the Brewster Center and/or the YWCA's Mensajeras de Salud program.
