SAA WRITERS CONTEST. The Society of Southwestern Authors
announces the 1998 Writer's Contest. Entries must be original,
unpublished works: short stories, personal essays, memoirs and
poetry are all eligible. Cash prizes will be given in all categories.

SPRING READING SERIES. UA Modern Languages Building auditorium.
The UA Poetry Center continues the 1998 Spring Reading Series
with Rick Bass on Wednesday, March 11. He is the author of 11
books of fiction and non-fiction, including: Winter, Oil Notes,
Platte River, In the Loyal Mountains, The Last Grizzlies and The
Book of Yaak. All readings are free and begin at 8 p.m. Persons
may request a sign language interpreter; requests should be made
