SUPERBOWL TAILGATE PARTY. The Reid Park Zoo hosts a Super Bowl Tailgate Party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, at 1100 S. Randolph Way. Bring your own picnic lunch or purchase snacks there and enjoy entertainment by the CDO Choir, Ironwood Morris Dance Team, the Old Time Fiddlers Association, and hands-on activities run by Tucson Parks and Recreation. No grills or alcoholic beverages. Regular Zoo admission applies. Admission is $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for seniors, 75 cents for children 5 to 14 and free for children 4 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT HELP. Members of the Society of Women Engineers will work one-on-one with students K-12 seeking help with science fair projects. This workshop meets Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at Wilmot Library, 530 N. Wilmot Road. (791-4626); and from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mission Library, 3770 S. Mission Road. (791-4811). And on Monday January 29, at Bear Canyon Library, 8959 Tanque Verde Road. (791-5021). Bring all school science fair information. Workshops continue throughout the month of January at various libraries in Tucson.

Parents' Corner

Domestic Violence. Tucson Centers for Women and Children offers domestic violence prevention and intervention information and education classes for those wanting to explore resources available regarding family violence. Weekly groups meet at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at a location in central Tucson. Cost is $5. Support groups are also available. Call 795-4266 for information.

HEALTHY FAMILIES. Healthy Kids/Healthy Families, a nutrition education program series is held from 9 to 11 a.m. the last Saturday of the month beginning January 27, at the Square and Compass Children's Clinic Building, 2600 N. Wyatt Dr., in the Florence Manning Room. Pyramid Power, the Food Guide Pyramid, is discussed January 27.

TUSD OPEN HOUSES. The following TUSD magnet high schools host open houses highlighting each school's unique educational opportunities at 7 p.m. January 30 through February 5: January 30, Palo Verde H.S., 1302 S. Avenida Vega; January 31, Catalina H.S., 3645 E. Pima St.; February 1, Cholla H.S., 2001 W. Starr Pass Boulevard; February 2, Pueblo H.S., 3500 South 12th Ave.; and February 5, Tucson H.S., 400 N. Second Ave. TUSD students, parents/guardians, and especially eighth-graders and their families are encouraged to attend. Call 617-7385 for information.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION. Safford Elementary and Middle Schools offer a Conflict Resolution Workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at 200 East 13th St. Reservations are required. Space is limited. Call Jane Furet at 617-6200 for information.

TEEN DADS' SUPPORT GROUP. This support group meets from 5 to 7 p.m. every other Tuesday at the Center for Adolescent Parents, 1030 N. Alvernon Way. Free on-site child care, food, gas and/or bus passes are available. Meetings will cover life skills such as self-esteem, assertiveness, career direction and decision making. FAMILY/COMMUNITY FORUMS. Family Forum and Community Forum are free, ongoing classes which meet at 10:15 a.m. every Sunday at St. Philip's In The Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave., in the Vestry Room. Family Forum offers frank discussion about families, children and parenting. Community Forum meets in the East Murphy Gallery. Continuing through February 11, Community Forum presents Tucson: A Community of Violence, an open discussion with representatives from local agencies. Call 299-6421 for information.

THE PARENT CONNECTION. The Parent Connection, 5326 E. Pima St., offers a variety of educational and support services for families. The program's core is its Parent/Child Play program, which brings parents and children together for activities geared toward the social and physical development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The program provides instruction and discussion on communication, limit setting and nurturing for young children. The Parent Connection also offers a meeting site, library, indoor/outdoor play areas and referral to community resources for families.
