BOTANICAL GARDENS. Tucson Botanical Gardens. 2150 N. Alvernon
Way. Birds and Gardening Tours are
45-minute guided tours exploring the plants and gardening practices
that attract birds to your backyard. Tours run at 9 a.m. every
Tuesday. Exploring the Tucson Botanical Gardens is a guided
tour highlighting TBG history and plant trivia, and familiarizing
you with native flora and other plants that grow well in Tucson.
These tours are at 10 a.m. every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
Tours are free with admission. Introduction to Tucson Gardening
classes focus on using drought-tolerant plants to colorful and
low-maintenance effect. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. the first Thursday and the third Saturday of the month.
Cost is $5, which includes admission; or $3 for TBG members. Regular
admission to the gardens is $4, $3 for seniors, free for members
and children under age 12. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday
through Sunday. Call 326-9686 for information.
CASA DEL AGUA. 4366 N. Stanley Place. Casa del Agua invites
all area middle and high school teachers to participate in their
Water Wisdom Program. Teachers and students participate
in free field trips, including free transportation to the project.
Outreach speaking is also available. Casa del Agua is a demonstration
and education project operated by Arid Lands Studies at the University
of Arizona. It includes information about indoor water conservation,
xeriscape, rainwater harvesting, and graywater systems. Free tours
are offered for everyone on the hour from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays,
excluding holidays. Call Catherine at 887-1185 to arrange for
