Chocolate Iguana 500 N. Fourth Ave. STAFF PICK: With a name to live up to like Chocolate Iguana, this java joint doesn't disregard the cocoa in the caffe. In the sea of perk purveyors in town that mix a little milk with some mild house blend and a gob of Hershey's syrup and call it a mocha, the Iguana takes utmost care in combining only the best ingredients. The espresso is nearly gritty, the chocolate dark and thick, the whipped cream rich and real. Drinks are made fresh with each order--even the iced variations are made anew, rather than stored in plastic jugs in the fridge. Unlike so many iced-coffee drinks that wind up emasculated versions of the real thing, Chocolate Iguana's iced mochas jump-start the circulatory system--and the taste buds. It's no wonder this little café has been winning awards for this drink for years.
