Best Selection On Tap

The Wildcat House
1801 N. Stone Ave.

READERS' PICK: The wooden walls and patterned carpet at the Wildcat House are reminiscent of a ski lodge. Luckily, the scattered bits of castle motif, blue-felt pool tables, and a triad of huge-screen TVs reveal its true college-bar nature. And that's not even mentioning the coat-of-arms-styled haute-relief caricatures of beer-guzzling bar patrons! Let us put it another way: You can't go wrong with 50 beers on tap.

READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: Zachary's Pizza, 1019 E. Sixth St. (See Best Pint, below.)

CLUE IN: The key word here is not "quantity," but "quality." Sorry to those who love MGD or Milwaukee's Best--the Double Zero, 121 E. Congress St., has reserved each of its dozen taps for high-class brews like Harps, Bass, Sam Adams, or one of Tucson's own Nimbus beers. There's one more key word: "price." You'll find two-dollar pints of Guinness served all day, every day. Where else does a pint of fresh-tasting Guinness cost less than a bottle of Bud?
