STAFF PICK: What is the only good thing about summer in
Tucson? Other than watching developers suffer in their three-piece
suits, the answer may well be the traditional $2.50 pint of Liberty
Ale gala at Zachary's Pizza. This year, the hops gods (or
owner Dave Ellis) extended the previous June to July Fourth season
to a full three months, proving yet again you can't get too much
of a good thing. Brews do not get any better than Liberty Ale
on tap. The imperial pints at Zachary's are big enough to bench
press (sometimes the only exercise some of the regulars here get),
and take the edge off those monsoon dog days. Hats off and glasses
raised to Julie, who serves 'em up with grace and gusto every
finish-the-week-with-a bang Friday.
