READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: You thought you ordered the Caesar Salad Burger at the Big A Restaurant, but all you see on your plate is the salad. That's okay, this is like two meals in one. Just keep munching through the crisp greens--you'll eventually get to the patty grilled to your specs. Another sure bet is the Mushroom Burger, smothered with sautéed 'shrooms. Got a sweet tooth? The pineapple on the Hawaiian Burger ought to do the trick. If you're the type who buys classic clothing that lasts through the seasons, stay in character and order the traditional cheeseburger complete with onions, tomato, pickle and lettuce. For those who don't have beef on the brain, veggie burgers are on the menu (we admit, we haven't sampled them). The Big A is at 2033 E. Speedway.
STAFF PICK: Bob Dobbs' has some serious meat for the red-blooded American who would like nothing better than to arm-wrestle a vegan, watching the poor, overmatched, protein-starved, tofu-eater's bones snap like kindling while using his free hand to help gnaw down a big, juicy meaty Bob Dobbs' burger. We're sorry; sorta got carried away there. Try a burger at Bob Dobbs' Bar & Grill, 2501 E. Sixth St. The fries are good, too.
