Chuy's casual atmosphere and budget-friendly prices can be the antidote for a stress-filled day or a place to relax when you don't plan to do a damn thing. This is about as close to sitting on the dock of the bay as you'll find here in the desert. With its colorful murals, towering faux marine life and shady tables, Chuy's is a choice locale for watching an afternoon thunderstorm while sipping a cold one. Five locations citywide.
A REAL SCREAM: The Frog & Firkin, 874 E. University
Blvd., just can't be beat for a cozy, late-afternoon brew on someone
else's porch. This converted house sandwiched in the scenic West
University neighborhood has more selections on tap than you can
responsibly choose from through the course of a single evening.
After a few pints, we're utterly entranced by the live entertainment
provided by passers-by and the lovely Old Pueblo Trolley, and
that extra glow the sun setting on the Tucson Mountains seems
to have.
