Warming up the stage will be mandolin and fiddle virtuoso Sam Bush. MIDDLE SCHOOL JAZZ. Southwest School of Music will extend auditions for the Middle School Honor Jazz Band through Wednesday, September 18. Auditions are by appointment at the school, for trumpet, trombone, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, piano, guitar, bass and drum set. For information call 884-0811.

CALL TO MUSICIANS. The Catalina Chamber Orchestra is open to new members by audition. Positions are available in all instruments. Call 327-4721 to schedule an appointment.

CALL FOR MEMBERS. The Tucson Masterworks Chorale, Tucson's professional-level community chorus, invites people from all walks of life and backgrounds to become members. PLAZA JAZZ. St. Philip's Plaza. Campbell and River Roads. The Tucson Jazz Society continues the Plaza Suite Fall Jazz series at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 14, with the Danilo Perez Trio. TWILIGHT TUNES. Tucson Parks and Recreation presents the Tucson Pops Orchestra in its Music Under The Stars concert series continuing at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, September 15, at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center in Reid Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the show. Performances are free and concessions will be sold. Free shuttle service leaves from the west entrance of Foley's at El Con Mall beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Out Of Town

SILVER CITY JAZZ. There's only a three-hour drive separating real jazz fans from the Silver City Jazz Fest, where the Cal Collins Quartet, Yobosó, the Ray Drummons Quintet, and others perform live. The festival kicks off Friday, September 27, and continues through Sunday, September 29. Tickets are $40. Enjoy a weekend of excellent music, delicious food, arts and crafts in a cool, beautiful mountain setting. There will be organized activities for the kids so bring them along.
