ARTISTS ON ICE. The Screening Room. 127 E. Congress St.
622-2262. Artists on Ice, an air-conditioned showcase of
Tucson's most talented emerging poets, musicians, filmmakers,
and others, meets from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays. This power-packed
evening of non-stop entertainment is free, with donations gratefully
accepted. Call 622-2262 for information.
BREWSTER WORKSHOP. Concerned about a friend or loved one
in an abusive relationship and don't know how to help? A free
Friends and Family Workshop covers basic information on domestic
violence, community resources, and what you can do to help, including
an introduction to advocacy for your friend or family member.
Program runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Brewster Center Women's
Services Building, 2801 E. Broadway, corner of Broadway and Treat
Street.
SOKO SHOP. Sixth Street Art Studios. 44 W. Sixth St. Find
the finest in African and Afro-Centric clothing and jewelry at
the Soko Fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26. Proceeds from the Soko (Swahili
for "market") will benefit the Barbea Williams Performing
Company. Also available are adult and children's dance costumes

SUMMER SUN DRIVE. The Tucson Planning Council for the Homeless
needs your donations of unused or new water bottles, sunscreen,
summer hats and sunglasses to help Tucsonans on the street fight
the summer heat. Drop off your donations at any of the following
locations: The American Red Cross, 3915 E. Broadway; St. Francis
de Sales Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco; The Salvation Army Hospitality
House, 1021 N. 11th Ave; or The Salvation Army Amphi Corps, 218
E. Prince Road. Call 881-1794 for information.
