BEER FESTIVAL. Sun Sounds hosts its ninth annual Great Tucson Beer Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Plaza Palomino, Ft. Lowell and Swan Roads. Samples of beers from around the world, along with non-alcoholic beverages and tempting foods, highlight this event to raise funds for Sun Sounds, a non-profit radio information station for the physically impaired and learning disabled. Tickets are $25, available at Uncle Bob's Popcorn, 5-Star Electronics, Plaza Palomino, Cardinal Coffees, Trader Joe's, RumRunner, Plaza Liquors, Magee Road Liquors and Orange Grove Brew and Vine. Must be 21 years or older to enter. Call Sun Sounds at 296-2400 for information. CHRISTMAS IN APRIL. Volunteers are needed to help with renovation projects for the Christmas in April charity event Saturday, April 20. Thirty-three homes in the Pueblo Gardens neighborhood are this year's recipients. Construction materials and other items may still be donated. Students at Keeling and Pueblo Gardens elementary schools have organized a competitive penny drive with donation sites located at the schools and various businesses, in hopes of raising enough money to add two more houses to the list. TUCSON MEET YOUR TEENS. Tucson Teen Week wraps up with Tucson Meet Your Teens from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center in Reid Park. This multi-cultural event features a teen fashion show, cultural dance groups, local bands and teen art display. An information fair, health fair and maze called Sex, Are You Ready? also highlight this event. Admission is free. Call Tucson Parks and Recreation at 791-4873 for information. TALL TALE. The Tucson Tall Club hosts a picnic at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Catalina State Park, 11570 N. Oracle Road. TTC is a social club for women 5' 10" or taller and men 6' 2" or taller who are at least 21 years of age. New members are sought. Call Debbi at 579-7263 or Ron at 298-5074 for information. STAMP CLUB AUCTION. The Tucson Stamp Club hosts their Spring Auction at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the Armory Park Senior Center, 220 S. Fifth Ave. 85 lots of foreign and U.S. stamps, post cards, postal stationary, stamp booklets, catalogues, albums and stockbooks are up for auction. Call 743-0429 for information. |
