Continuing through April 13: Going Forth By Day, recent glass works by Jerry Flanary in collaboration with Amy Andrews, Dan Enwright, Steve Hansen and Rob Jenkins. Glass techniques employed include lampworked glass, core-formed vessels, blown vessels, massiccio, sand casting, mixed-media and flat glass. The Ancient Egyptian consciousness of the continuity beyond physical existence is the main meditative focus of this small body of work. There will be an artist's reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 11, with Middle Eastern dancers and food. ARTS BRIGADE. Help paint a mural on Fourth Avenue, work on a Quilt of Solidarity, participate in the street chalk mural and more with the Arts Brigade, an intergenerational collective of politically minded cultural workers. CALL TO ARTISTS. Applications are currently being accepted for the Phantom Gallery, which includes various downtown spaces of different sizes, oriented to pedestrian and street level viewing. The Tucson Convention Center may also be available for displaying large works, suitable for hanging on a wall; minimum size is four by five feet, with larger works encouraged. Deadline is April 25. CALL TO ARTISTS. The Tucson/Pima Arts Council seeks artist proposals for two public art commissions for the new frontage and access roads along I-10 downtown. The Arizona Department of Transportation seeks artists to work with its landscape architects on projects at I-10/Congress Street and I-10/18th Street.
