TICKET ALERT. Tickets are on sale for Ballet Arizona's Romeo and Juliet, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the TCC Music Hall, 260 S. Church Ave. Tickets range from $16 to $26 and are available at Dillard's, the TCC box office or by calling Ballet Arizona at 882-5022.

TFTM DANCE. Tucson Friends of Traditional Music presents Saturday Contra and Square Dance, with live music by fiddlers Jim Mueller and Amber Roullard-Mueller and guest caller Kathy Anderson, from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the First Congregational United Church, 824 N. Second Ave. Singles and couples are welcome, no experience necessary. Lessons are offered from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5, $4 for TFTM members. New dancers are admitted free.

COUNTRY DANCE. Dance to live tunes by the Country Man Band from 4 to 7 p.m. every Monday at the Armory Park Senior Center, 220 S. Fifth Ave. Call 791-4865 for information.

BALLROOM DANCING. Dance to live music from 8 to 11 p.m. Wednesdays at Let's Dance Club, 6245 E. Bellevue. Singles and couples of all skill levels are welcome. Experience a touch of sophistication and romance with theme-dress occasions and a large decorated ballroom. Cost is $7, $5 for members. BEER FESTIVAL. Sun Sounds hosts its ninth annual Great Tucson Beer Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Plaza Palomino, located at Ft. Lowell and Swan roads. Samples of beers from around the world, along with non-alcoholic beverages and tempting foods highlight this event to benefit Sun Sounds, a non-profit radio information station for visually and physically handicapped and learning disabled persons. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at Uncle Bob's Popcorn, 5-Star Electronics, Plaza Palomino, Cardinal Coffees, Trader Joe's, RumRunner, Plaza Liquors, Magee Road Liquors and Orange Grove Brew and Vine. CHRISTMAS IN APRIL. Volunteers are needed to help with renovation projects for the Christmas in April charity event Sunday, April 21. Thirty-three homes in the Pueblo Gardens neighborhood are this year's recipients. Construction materials and other items may still be donated. Students at Keeling and Pueblo Gardens elementary schools have organized a competitive penny drive with donation sites located at the schools and various businesses, in hopes of raising enough money to add two more houses to the list. DESERT GALA. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum hosts its annual Desert Gala at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at the museum, 2021 N. Kinney Road. The event features auctions, cocktails, presentation of the 1996 Luminaria Awards and an elegant dinner. Linda Ronstadt is the honorary Grand Chairman of the event. Tickets are $75 per person, $600 for a table of eight. Proceeds benefit the museum. Call 883-3018 for reservations and information.

OPEN-AIR MARKET. Experience the charm of a European style open-air market from 2 p.m. to dusk Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, at Plaza Palomino at Swan and Fort Lowell roads. DOWNTOWN SATURDAY. Do the day and night downtown Saturday, April 6, and mingle among artists, musicians, vendors and unexpected apparitions. Daytime activities include a jelly bean hunt at 9 a.m. at the Children' Museum, a Jazz Society seminar at 12:30 p.m. at the Armory Park Senior Center and a TSO Carpet Concert at 11:30 a.m. at the TCC Grand Ballroom. The UA School of Music hosts a musical showcase from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Transit Center. TSO's String Quartet performs in Arizona Alley and Out of the Blue plays bluegrass at Winsett Park on Fourth Ave. Rancho Venado offers horse drawn wagon rides. READY, SET, D'ART. The Tucson Museum of Art League hosts the third annual Ready, Set, D'Art benefit for TMA at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the museum, 140 N. Main Ave. The highlight of this evening of food and music is the random drawing of 125 pieces of art donated by area artists, galleries and private donors. Art pieces are currently open for viewing. Tickets are $225 for two people and are available by calling TMA at 624-2333.

Out Of Town

TUBAC GALA. Tubac Center for the Arts hosts its semi-annual fund raising Auction Gala 1996 Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, at the center located on Plaza Road in Tubac. Silent auction bidding and art viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Bid cards cost $10. The live auction begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, preceded by dinner and cocktail hour. Tickets are $35 per person and may be reserved by calling (520) 398-2731.
