EARLY BLOOM: Get your garden in order at the first annual Spring Flower and Garden Show March 1 and 2 at the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave., with exhibitions, demonstrations, floral displays and lectures by representatives from the Tucson Botanical Gardens, Arizona Native Plant Society, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and others. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $2.50, with children age 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult. Call 544-8847 for information.

WILDCAT POWWOW: The third annual Wildcat Powwow gathers for a full weekend of drum playing and gourd dancing March 2 and 3 at the Arizona Stadium on the UA campus. This heritage celebration unites Native Americans from across the country to exhibit and compete in a wide range of tribal dances, song, arts and crafts. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $4 per day at the door. Call 626-4240 for information.

DOWNTOWN SATURDAY: The Downtown SaturDay cornucopia of arts and entertainment begins bright and early March 2 with two TSO "Just for Kids" concerts at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. at The Temple Of Music And Art.

Downtown Saturday Night celebrates Primavera: A Celebration of Women In The Arts with the following performances between 7 and 10 p.m.: Mama Ritmo in the Ronstadt Transit Center; the Mary Redhouse Jazz Group on Pennington Street; and Catacoustic Groove in Arizona Alley. Pick up a program of events at the information booth at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Congress Street. Call 624-9977 for events and information.

PLAYING IN THE GARDENS: The wildflowers aren't in bloom yet, but the Tucson Botanical Gardens will be full of color nonetheless with a first annual Family Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3. Kids can choose from a full plate of activities like seed planting, crafts, exploring the grounds, storytime under the gazebo, birding and scavenger hunts, balloon hats, animal creations and lemon Eegee's and popcorn for all. Also, sign up to win a week of free summer classes. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Family Day admission is $3 per family, free for members. Regular admission is $3 per person, $2 for seniors, and free for children under 12. Call 326-9255 for information.

MIRACLE SIGNING: Author Patricia Preciado Martin signs copies of Milagro and Other Stories, a tantalizing mix of "stories and memories of the sights, sounds and fragrant aromas of life in the barrio some 30 or 40 years ago," from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at the Sosa-Carillo-Fremont House Museum, 260 N.
