WOMEN WRITERS EVENT. Doubletree Hotel. 445 S. Alvernon Way. The UA Women's Studies Advisory Council presents Writers' Journeys: Real and Imagined, featuring three mystery writers sharing their experiences and works at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27. Cost is $25. Call 621-7338 to register.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS. The Tucson Poetry Festival is accepting recent work from Arizona poets for the 16th-annual Statewide Poetry Contest. The contest is open to all Arizona poets who have not published a full-length collection of their work. Entrants must submit two copies of up to 10 pages of recent work. Entrant's name must not appear on manuscript pages. Do not staple or bind materials. Photocopied excerpts from books and periodicals will not be accepted. Enclose a title page including name, address, titles (or first two lines) of the poems and a contact phone number. Winners will be notified by March 15. Entry fee is $8. Mail entries to Statewide Poetry Contest, P.O. Box 44000, Tucson, AZ 85733. Entries must be postmarked by February 28.

DEAD POET'S SOCIETY. Let your creative juices flow! A safe place to read poetry and prose. Discussion and feedback are encouraged at these bi-monthly meetings. Call 750-1482 for information.
