Le Bistro 2574 N. Campbell Ave. READERS' PICK: You find yourself in one of those moods--you want something decadent and you want it now! Le Bistro will quell your every need for something good, bad and French. Their desserts are phenomenal, and a bargain to boot. Whether you've just finished an incredible meal or just popped in for a slice of something sweet, a dessert at Le Bistro is an experience not to be missed. They have the standards: fresh fruit tarts, turtle and marble cheesecakes, banana creme tarts. But for something a little more sinful, try the Mocha Raspberry Roulade, an espresso-laced sponge cake rolled in dark chocolate mousse and chocolate butter creme; or the Barvarian Creme with Pears, wrapped in a raspberry sponge cake drizzled with English creme and raspberry purée; or even the Winter--Italian meringue, Belgian white chocolate and chocolate mousse. The waitstaff favorite is the Harlequin: simple sponge cake, chocolate and fresh whipped cream. So do your aerobics, lift your weights and walk your dog, because after you've had a taste of these heavenly delights, you'll need to keep making room for more. READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: In the main dining area inside the Hotel Congress' Cup Café, towering in the middle of the west wall, is the Traulsen: a twirling cornucopia of confections. The three tiers of rotating desserts, with its mirrored center pole, may as well be the centerpiece of the room for all the surreptitious and unabashed attention it gets. Succumb to this lazy Susan of Sin, with its chocolate sour cream cake, its carrot cake slathered thick with cream-cheese frosting; its Boston and coconut cream pies and taunting meringues; its capricious cheesecakes in flavors from lemon and raspberry to Amaretto and Kahlua. Plates of macaroons, raspberry bars and brownies, mugs of double-chocolate pudding--all complete their orbit perched on dreamy doilies that look remarkably like cloud nine. And if that's not selection enough, stowed behind the counter are cookies, muffins and a perennial favorite (though not strictly a dessert), scrumptious flavor du jour coffee cake. All are made fresh on the premises, and are reasonably priced considering the monumental portions. Located at 308 E. 10th St. A REAL SCREAM: Nestled beneath the wings of the Temple of Music and Art, and just minutes from the heart of downtown, this quaint Neo-Yorkian café serves some of the most criminally delicious desserts around. Confected by one of the city's finest pastry chefs, selections range from truly sublime tiramisu to equally remarkable Key-lime vodka sorbet and decadent chocolate torte. So whether you've a yen for something sweet during intermission, or happen to be in the neighborhood, desserts at the B&B Café, 330 S. Scott Ave., are sure to please.
