Best Vinyl For Collectors

Last Wax Records
402 N. Fourth Ave.

STAFF PICK: All over the country, the number of stores that still sell used vinyl has dropped to a bare minimum. One of the few survivors left in Tucson (not counting the vast vinyl juggernaut that is PDQ Records) is Last Wax Records. Owner Bob "Pepe" Galvez has kept this little treasure trove alive for some five-odd years now, and one of the charms of his store is that he's a collector himself. Friendly and personable, he'll probably be as enthusiastic about what you're seeking as you are. Because it's a small store, Pepe avoids the junky stuff (Captain & Tennille records have pretty much been banished), filling the bins instead with top-quality rock, jazz, reggae, world music, soundtracks, EZ-listening, comedy, spoken word, rap, and even some DJ/dance stuff. We've found all sorts of rarities there that we couldn't find anywhere else. And relatively speaking, the prices totally rock.
