Best Food On I-10

Tonopah Joe's
Tonopah, Arizona

STAFF PICK: Sorry, it's just not in Tucson. Joe opened the place 26 years ago when there was nothin' in Tonopah, Arizona, but snakes. It's an island of real food in a river of impersonal chains. Joe brought the current cook all the way from Seattle, and whooee, that is some good food. Everything is homemade, from scratch. If you have room after a big slab of the most flavorful roast pork loin on earth, order the pie. The tender, flaky crust is even better than our mother-in-law from Missouri makes. The large dining room is decorated with clocks of all kinds, and they're all for sale. Please Joe, don't ever leave--unless you decide to pull up stakes to move to Tucson.
