STAFF PICK: If you haven't discovered the fine brew and
melt-in-your-mouth scones at The Bristol, you've probably
at least noticed the double-decker red bus parked across from
Park Mall on East Broadway. Take your pick: Simply drive through,
which entails ordering the Joe through one of the side bus windows,
or park and climb the spiral staircase to the upper level for
a lovely repast. We did the latter on one rainy morning last spring
and saw that stretch of Broadway from a whole new level. The top
deck is covered, but still open-air. Rain drops from hours of
morning rain had been wiped from the tables, each of which was
adorned with a charming little vase and flowers. The Bristol is
small, but big on class and character. The convenience of the
drive-up window is unbeatable, and we wish these buses would pop
up on a half-dozen more streets around town.
