Womankraft
388 S. Stone Ave.

READERS' PICK: It's worth a visit to this restored Victorian-style castle on South Stone Avenue just to see the myriad objects and found art displays. Womankraft hasn't earned its reputation by being ordinary, and the castle they've built to house art exhibits, classes and special events is no exception. When we visited, there was nothing on the walls going for more than $300, though the collection by member artists was varied and interesting. One of Womankraft's founding mothers, artist Gayle Swanbeck, offered a collection of beautiful, framed cloth collages, each for only $20. A special treat is the gallery-within-a-gallery, Kidcraft, where pieces by young artists are featured.
