The Rowdies

READERS' PICK: If all you want is rock, good and loud and with songs you know all the lyrics to, you can't go wrong with The Rowdies. These guys are serious about having a good time, raising a ruckus with rock and roll from the '50s through the '90s, with an emphasis refreshingly from the current decade. These guys will rock you into the next millennium. Lately they've been playing regular gigs at Berky's on Fourth and the Chicago Bar; but check The Weekly's Club Listings for current information.

READERS' POLL RUNNER-UP: Borrowed Money

STAFF PICK: Remember how much disco sucked? It sucked so much that it dominated the music charts for half a decade, influenced fashion so much that whatever it is we get polyester from is long-since endangered if not extinct, and it made places like Bobby McGee's THE hot spot in town during the late '70s. We guess it still sucks, so much so that you have to pay top dollar and stand in long lines to see the Boogie Knights, the top purveyors of all that is Bee Gee-like. These boys lay down the boogie and play that funky music 'til you die. Or at least until you've danced yourself into a near-death state. This band is hot and, admit it, so is their music.
