STAFF PICK: Buy yourself a ticket to the dogfight going on between Claire's Café, 16140 N. Oracle Road, and The Lariat, 16666 N. Oracle Road. A couple months back, The Lariat got gussied up, pulled out the pool tables, 86'ed the bikers and drunks and became a real family restaurant. In the process, they stole away Dave, Claire's erstwhile lead cook. Lately, Claire has really had to hustle to keep up. Her most recent strategy is putting discount coupons on the back of the cash register receipts at Fry's. Our solution: Catch one for breakfast, take a long turn through Catalina State Park, and hit the other for lunch. Good thing this town's big enough for the both of 'em.
