STAFF PICK: Some of us fondly remember the good old days when we had a military option called SOS. These days, real creamed chipped beef on toast is hard to find. (A couple places still do it with ground meat, which doesn't count.) You'll find a world-class version at Vivian's Café, 3684 N. Thornydale Road. The breakfast menu, served until they close at 2 p.m., has other great stuff like the batter version of potato pancakes. Living proof there can be something of merit in Marana. It's enough to make you want to re-up. Well, almost.
