STAFF PICK: The Food Conspiracy Co-op, at 412 N. Fourth Ave., has some of the finest, tastiest organic produce to behold in town. Over 40 varieties of fresh produce restocked throughout the day virtually guarantee that your shopping needs will be met. Pesticide- and chemical-free fruit and vegetables are brought in from commercial as well as local growers. Although produce is generally fresh and clean, the locally grown tomatoes look and taste more like real tomatoes, rather than the uniformly red, blemishless, pasty, hothouse tomatoes we commonly see. And, we recently found a baby ladybug on our red leaf lettuce. Perpetual improvement seems to be the hallmark of this new, improved Food Conspiracy.
